Why UPSC CDS is Worth It
The salary breakdown I shared? That's not just numbers. That's:
- A 2 BHK in a military station with manicured lawns
- A batman who polishes your shoes
- A jeep with a red light
- Soldiers saluting you
- Medical coverage for your parents
- A pension after 20 years
- A life where you don't check prices at the CSD canteen
- The pride of leading men in uniform
But more than that โ it's the chance to serve the nation. It's your father telling everyone with tears in his eyes, "Mera beta fauj mein hai." (My son is in the army.)
The CDS 1 2026 notification is out, applications closed on December 30, 2025, and the exam is on April 12, 2026. If you're reading this in early 2026, you have exactly 3 months. It's not enough time to start from scratch โ but if you've been preparing, these 3 months can make all the difference.
I failed SSB four times. Four times I heard "conferenced out." The fifth time, my chest number was called. I broke a table.
Today, trains stop for me at level crossings. But more importantly, my father's friends stop him on the road to ask about me.
