If you are preparing for Railway ALP, it is important to understand both the syllabus and the right preparation approach. The exam is conducted in two stages—CBT 1 and CBT 2. CBT 1 includes subjects like Maths, Reasoning, General Science, and Current Affairs. CBT 2 is more important and has two parts: Part A (Maths, Reasoning, Science) and Part B, which is the technical section based on your trade such as Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, or Fitter.

For the technical section, focus mainly on your ITI or diploma fundamentals. The questions are usually basic and concept-based, not very advanced. For example, if you are from Electrical, prepare topics like basic circuits, current, voltage, machines, measurements, and safety rules. For Mechanical, focus on basics like tools, thermodynamics, and workshop concepts.

The best way to prepare is to revise your core subjects again and again instead of using too many books. Solve previous year questions because the pattern is often repeated. Practice MCQs daily to improve speed and accuracy. Also, make short notes for formulas and important concepts so you can revise quickly. Stay consistent, focus on basics, and avoid overcomplicating things—this is the key to scoring well in the technical section.
